About Actie Radius

Most of what keeps a body ticking over happens within a short walk of the front door. The stairs at the office, the trip to the corner shop, the toothbrush waiting by the sink, the kettle you fill before deciding whether today is a fasting day. Actie Radius is written for that small circle. We take the questions that come up inside it and answer them without drama, jargon or a sales pitch for a new life.

Six lanes to browse

The archive is split into six lanes. Pick whichever sits closest to the question on your mind:

  • Health covers teeth and gums, skin, clinic visits, insurance paperwork and the gaps between appointments.
  • Fitness is about step targets, creatine, trackers and staying with a plan when progress goes quiet.
  • Exercise deals with the actual moving: stair climbs, walking in place, warm-weather routines and making effort feel less like a punishment.
  • Nutrition & Medicine looks at keto, eating windows, supplements and the medicines where a pharmacist should have the last word.
  • Fitness App helps you make sense of phone reminders, step counters and the graphs on your wrist.
  • Lifestyle gathers the rest of the home: cooler bedrooms, cleaner air, potted lemon trees, pets and small comforts.

Who is behind the writing

The writing is split between three people who publish under pen names. Marit handles walking, stairs and anything with a step counter. Joris takes food, fasting and the supplement shelf. Hester looks after teeth, clinics and the careful second read every guide gets before it goes up. None of them holds a medical, dental or dietetic title, and nothing here should be read as if they did. The page Who Runs These Lanes says more about how the three split things up.

A fresh coat of paint in 2026

The site was relaunched with a new design in 2026. While we were at it, the older articles were rewritten from scratch so they match the way we write now: shorter answers up front, clearer caveats, and a pointer to the right kind of professional where one is needed. Publication dates were kept, so you can still see when a topic first appeared.

Getting the most out of it

Read a guide, try the one small change it suggests, and see how your week responds. If you are starting from the sofa, the Beginner’s Guide lays out a gentle order of reading. Before acting on anything that touches medicine, supplements or a health condition, have a look at Health Information, Read Wisely. Spotted a mistake or have a question we have not tackled? Say hello; we read everything that arrives.

From the start line

Why we keep the radius small

Most health advice imagines a person with spare hours, a gym nearby and a kitchen full of new ingredients. Our readers usually have a commute, a family and a cupboard of whatever was on offer last week.

So we write for that distance: the stairs at work, the walk to the shops, the toothbrush by the sink. Small, repeatable things, explained carefully, with a clear line where a professional should take over.
